Oil leaking out of bottom of BOP = Game Over!! | |
susano User ID: 916958 United States 05/28/2010 10:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Bear with me, here. How do you know it's the underside of the BOP? Quoting: ^TrInItY^because I was watching it all day and they had some other rovs around that were showing the zoomed out view one even panned down and showed the pipe in the seafloor also they sent some kinda scope up there yesterday to inspect where the BOP hooks up the the flange on the well pipe.. Thanks. So, the idea here is that the BOP is NOT resting on the sea floor in an upright position? |

Now the video feed is not available. Game over Quoting: 86mustangThey have only been showing looped video for the last couple of days anyway. Poorly looped video, at that. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 984803 United States 05/28/2010 10:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | man you people are dumb. Quoting: Woodspritehow does the methane light with no oxygen? A NUKE is not required. explosives will work. If a NUKE were used, it wouldn't cause a tsunami. You are very naive to think so. How do you figure ? Seems like common sense that if the bottom of the ocean floor is hit with that much force...it would be just like an offshore earthquake...and we all know that they do indeed set off Tsunamis! Sheesh...people need to stop and think before they speak..just take a second and really think, use some common sense.. Y'all also aren't taking into consideration that the cavern that lies under the entire edge of the Southern Coast, where this deposit lives...is being drained and nothing is being put back in to keep the volume full...like they do with normal drill wellls.. That means that there is a void forming as this stuff is being emptied out... Are you so willing to just go "willi-nilly", and try setting off an explosive device in an unstable area, that could potentially collapse a vast portion of Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and Florida? That deposit it that big! It stretches almost to Kansas! For Millenea, that deposit has been there, and it has been supporting the crust above it... It's bad enough to think what will happen if this thing cannot be stopped, and it just drains it's self dry...let alone to go and set off a huge detonation, intentionally causing it to be very unstable. does that deposit REALLY stretch all the way to Kansas? God, do we have some kind of map of that? Cause if it fills itself with seawater after it bleeds out and it causes that steam explosion that one scientist was talking about and then collapses the seabed and seals the hole -- if that is REALLY what could happen then we are talking mega earthquakes and tsunamis and much of the Gulf Coast possible ending up under water |

Basically the last video that was playing on the other feeds.. a screwed up NO RECORDING black screen... It's moving though, you can see the line scanning and what not.. so it's "live"... just blind. |

Quoting: ^TrInItY^it's upright but it's being supported entirely by the well pipe it would seem.. at least that's how I understand it from what we've been watching they are NOT telling the public this.. if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will call me on it soon ;) Who ever dreamed we'd all even know what a BOP is? Damn. |

The pressure problem is a real one. The more it drains, the more the pressure inside the reservoir drops below its equilibrium level, and the more likely problems could develop either with a blast or without a blast. So IF they are going to blast, they should do it soon. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 984803something stinks! The camera must have been covered in black oil as it surfaced making it look dark. |

I do not want to cause that and I feel like I need to apologize for even posting this, but it needs to be looked at in view of the Gulf Oil Spill: As you read, the scope of this thing will slowly hit you. More important, our young children live with us on the Gulf Coast. Is it all gonna blow. I'm not naive, I've been paying attention to this nightmare, but could it be a worst case, region-blasting scenario? :-( |

And truly, it looked to me like it went that far up under the US. It is like 1 of the biggest deposits ever found on the planet...EVER ! Yep...if they go setting off a Nuke under there...it sure could take out a whole lot more than what they were "trying" to do. It's painfully apparant that they really shouldn't be trusted in dealing with that kind of risk...because they ALWAYS think it less than it really is! |
