South Korea's top military commanders discussed on Saturday possible responses to North Korea's provocations amid heightening tensions between the two Koreas.
According to reports Joint Chiefs of Staff Lee Sang-eui and some 20 other commanders held talks on possible countermeasures that can be taken against North Korea in case it retaliates militarily or otherwise in response to additional sanctions.
Although officials declined from disclosing details the military is said to have discussed ways to cope with different types of provocations by Pyeongyang including a scenerio in which the North takes South Korean civilians at the joint Gaeseong industrial complex hostage.
Meanwhile North Korea's National Defense Commission on Saturday asserted that it does not posess the 130-ton submarine that Seoul says was used in the March torpedo attack. [ link to www.arirang.co.kr]
