Op, joining any secret society is a very serious matter.

Initiations (Real initiation BTW none of that astral stuff) have powerful, long lasting affects on your life and very being.

You must want it bad and be ready for it. Be careful, be wise.

As someone else mentioned, The Golden Dawn is accessible if your ready but it's the work of a lifetime. Chic and Tabby Cicero head up the real thing. Be wary of others though I know some others are doing good work.

It's hard work and much study but it's awesome.

Take it slow, research a lot of groups, GD, OTO, SRIA, MOUP,
So many...

I would just recommend picking up a copy of the original "Golden Dawn" by Regardie and see how it feels. I also recommend introducing yourself to Qabalah, try Ducettes "The Chicken Qabalah" for starters.

After you dig into those books, you can decide if your into a true spiritual order or something more along the ligns of Masonry (red or blue) or even a Moose lodge, lol.

Take your time and

Best Wishes,

Frater

I concur that there may be serious consequences to chosen a certain path, which is why I am trying to gather as much info before walking down one. but of course there is only so much that can be learned by proxy - some things have to be seen for yourself

yes I see your point. I'm not ready to resign to solipsisticism yet :) but I do think there is only one law in our universe and all of the scientific rules and theories are only describing smaller aspects of the one law that our whole reality is based on. I can't prove that assertion but it's what I believe at present time. I also think our world is a shared holographic reality that we are all consciously and un-consciously co-creating. Not in a figurative sense either I think consciousness is the fundamental particle of which all reality is made up from. I can't support this with empirical evidence but from my experiences it is the only conclusion I could come up with that seems to fit the data.

This leads into how I've been trying to raise my consciousness so I can attain greater control over the creative power I believe I have, that everyone has. In my opinion that's why the whole media industry is so heavily controlled (to the extent it can be of course) because it puts thoughtforms into the minds of those who buy into the reality they want to create. and because of mass consumption and the fact that we are all co-creators if they have a critical mass of souls creating what they want it will come into being.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 589279

Yes, I understand what you are saying, it is not dissimilar to my own view, but people need to walk before they run and so need to examine those things that appear to represent common reality, and agree upon their terms of reference before proceeding into the dark labyrinth. The agreement upon those terms of reference is the first spark of lighting the flame that guides us in there. For another view to assist in your thinking read Gods Debris. There are ideas in that writing that will help to bring forth your thinking. There is a large difference between the world we perceive and have to act and live within, and the potential broader reality that comprises the Grand Scheme. The majority of people do not have the time, mental energy or capacity to envision on this scale. There are small hints at it in much of the religious writings, but they are obfuscated by other things in them that have been placed there simply to keep those who lack the capacity and desire, under control. Just remember every evil you do is marked for ever in the fabric of the universe, and every good you do is likewise a part of the universe becoming. We each have a choice, to contribute to an end result, that has more of one than another. It is our responsibility to know this and to act accordingly.

you've got the wrong idea, I consider myself to be a sovereign king. master of my domain (body and soul mostly - I have few physical possessions to speak of) who will bow to no man. Initiation is not the same thing as worship - but you are correct in noting that there are still other societies and orders which I had not listed in the thread title. when I was living in SF I was considering checking out the OTO actually but never got around to it. It's not easy to always contemplate the big questions when small details always get in the way. sometimes I have to put aside my lofty ambitions and just figure out where I'm going to be living next. many paths to chose and the uncertainty I have has never been greater!

Hi Op, books are a very good way of getting a feel for differing groups. The OTO is easy to find but The GD has a very fine, lofty "current". This is my experience, you of course must search for yourself.

Enjoy The Quest, and when you feel happiness and joy shining down on you, your on the right track and theirs so many right tracks :)

I know of some masons who smoke herb, I don't think the substance use is so much of an issue as the actions of the user. If you are able to control yourself and not dishonor and tarnish the reputation of the lodge I don't see why they would have a problem with it. but keep in mind I'm on the outside I only know things by research I've done.

funny it seems no matter how much research I do I seem to end up right back where I started without having gained much real knowledge. learning works in cycles though so I will just put some things aside when I seem to be at a dead end, but of course with new knowledge sometimes it is necessary to backtrack to understand higher levels of meaning in things you have gone over before and missed things from.

They do not "abstain". They just do not do it while they meet. Cannabis is against the law in many jurisdictions, so you should regard that as private matter. In some jurisdictions it is a felony, so the brethren are not bound to maintain confidentiality, but probably will. If it is not a felony in your jurisdiction, then no brother will tell on you.

thanks for your replies, I appreciate everyone's input who has good intent!

I'll look into the GD to be honest I am not well versed about them so I'll bump that up higher on my list of things to inquire into.

Also I had the funny thought of trying to join them all! I think time and location could be an issue though, which is why I want to find those with the highest orders of knowledge and purpose. I simply don't have any patience for those who wish to waste my time with idle pursuits.

wake me up after you have given your first lodge "blue" job and become the main creepy crawley crowley aleister up your street

at least crowley had a beer brewing fortune bequeathed from his father to burn through by thirty before he became a brit mi 6 intel asset and wrote propaganda he said singlehandedly caused the germans to commit to unconditional uboat warfare against civilian merchant marine traffic

and right before the battle of the bulge in ww2, the ss panzer commander showed the lines of new tanks to crowley's contact and asked him "so what do you think of herr crowley's children of horus"?

now there is a mason's mason...and don't worry about drinking alcohol, just tell them that crowley, who was a 33rd degree adept in every lodge that he belonged to, drank like a living sponge, and shot up enough coke every day to kill three non-coking men...now that'll put red white and blue hair on your chest

Well G, the real big G. I have no idea who the hell you people are, but i have sat here and read much of all this thread and have found it somewhat interesting.

Personally op, i don't think you need to join any of those groups in order to find what you are looking for.

or the Freemasons as both the Jesuits and Freemasons were founded by gnostic military knights Templarism.

The Pilgrim Society is a meet for knighted elites, bankers and other fascists.

i cant find entry point into the illuminati :)

i would join there if i could get in

Join the English Theosophical Society and a respected lodge of Freemasons in the UK and wade through the window dressing working your way up until you can begin to interact socially with known Illuminati and then spend another 10 years brown nosing and viola!

AMORC is a dead end for Illuminati stuff in the USA unless you are a legacy member from a "good family".Too many metaphysical types interested in their own development and not enough power mad crackers plotting to take over shit that isn't theirs.
