does anyone have access or a link to that earlier video posted on this thread which has now been removed? it showed close up footage of the rocks and white spew coming from the volcano under the gulf. you could see the fire and heat and hear the video makers talking and laughing in the background like they were all viewing it together at some gathering.

It doesn't look like anyone's updated this thread with a conclusion on the flame question (at least on the last few pages). But another day has passed since the pin (and WTF Is this pin... it goes on forever?), and now the answer to the 'flame' mystery is in hand. What we were seeing was a pipe shooting methanol, intended to knock back formation of hydrates in the erupting gas. We know that now, because they've been doing a lot more of it on camera, with commentary from BP, as they've tried the newest cap solution.

Everybody probably knows this already, but just FWIW, before this thread goes to bed...
