It is in the Stoneface area of the Shawnee National Forest, in the Southeastern part of Illinois. It is located in a rocky bluff above a waterfall and difficult to get to. I will have to wait until fall to go back and take pictures, because of the large number of poisonous snakes in the area. It looks like a crack in the rock, but has a side passage leading to a chamber carved out of solid stone with a thing in the floor that looks like a navel. I will go back when cooler weather comes to southern Illinois. |
