BAGHDAD, July 31 (KUNA) -- Jaafar Al-Mosawi, chief prosecutor of the trial of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, said on Monday if the death penalty against Hussein was executed, it would be hanging until death and not by a shooting squad.

"It is a civil court not a military one," said Al-Mousawi, eliminating any legal exceptions due to the issue of age.

He added that in case a final verdict, the execution can be activated within 30 days.

Al-Mousawi said the next court session will be in mid-October to review the case's documents. He predicted that the last court session would be on October 26th, 2006.

Saddam Hussein had asked the court judge in the previous hearing for an execution by a fire squad and not by hanging, based on claims that he was a "military man" and should die in a military way. (end) ahh.

Sorry to disagree, Zidane, but we humans have been wandering around on this planet for at least 40,000 years, and here at the end of all that generously long time for self-improvement, we find that the human race is as warlike and bloodthirsty as ever, if not moreso. Our history, frankly, does not give much support to your theory of progressive advancement.

It seems to me, as it did to the early Christians, that humanity is stuck in a trap it cannot escape from on its own, and we need a savior. Oh, yes, a very few souls do achieve enlightenment in each generation and achieve their advancement, but the vast majority of us just keep getting it wrong lifetime after lifetime, stuck in a revolving door of reincarnations. Do you know that most reports of past lives emerging from the new modern past-life regression movement paint a very depressing picture, saying that they have b een making the same damn mistakes lifetime after lifetime, never making any progress?

Oh yes, we need a savior. We have demonstrated that fact well enough over the last 40,000 years. I for one hope and pray that we have indeed been given one, and that the 2,000 year old legends of Jesus Christ have something to them, because if they don't then most of us are, quite frankly, doomed.
