If the "Red ball of fire is on it's way" to hit us in this year, then it should be already within our solar system. If it has entered our solar system, astronomers and atsrpphysicists would have discovered it, even if the read ball would be permanently hidden behind the sun. It would be discovered because of tiniest changes in gravitational fields. It's not necessary to discover the red ball by optical instruments.
