Mitchell is a UFO believer. He takes Roswell for real. That makes him for me untrustworthy, although Dr. Mitchell is a very respectable and honorable person. Without any doubt, Mr. Mitchell as a man of merit, his viewpoint on UFOs is not acceptable for me. I'm still convinced Roswell is a pure fake. In a certain manner, I hope someday it will be proven I'm wrong in this topic.

As to the credibility of Dr. Mitchell's thinking on UFOs, have a look at the following short thread:

Though Dr. Mitchell is a honorable and serious scientist and a well experienced former NASA astronout who definitely has been walking personally on the moon, this fact makes him no more trustworthy in the whole UFO topic than any other official physicist or astronomer.

In the end, believe what you want to. We'v got not only freedom of speech, but freedom of believe as well.

Ok, the Saddam execution occurred - not with all the exact details that Gaiaman envisioned - but with all the essentials intact.

"The Great War, will be a religious one.(and economic later) After the execution of Saddam Hussein, which will be broadcast live on Iraqi TV and numerous other countries in the Middle East ( and other parts in the world) we will see the beginning of the War. Saddam Hussein is given a last chance to talk live to the muslim population of his country. Al Jazeera will show it live to the whole Arabic World. He will say, I have a message from Allah for you. He will declare himself as a descendant of Mohammed. The message he will give to the Muslims worldwide is to fight the Christians, Jews and those who have no religion, because there is only 1 truth and that is what is written in the Holy Koran. After this they will shoot him. He will refuse the Blindfold, and will die as a Martyr. This will be in mid or late 2006 and start the Great War."

- The execution was at the end of 2006.

- Although Saddam's last words were not broadcast live, due to an unforeseen breakdown in procedures - a smuggled telephone camera captured his last words and the hanging - which was almost immediately broadcast worldwide - and certainly on Al Jazeera.

- Although he was desperately seeking to be shot versus hung (he had again made this request in his final days), the judges decided on hanging. However, even Gaiaman seemed to revise his vision 4 months later when he said "I never claimed to have all the truth. When they hang Saddam, you will say I was wrong because I said he would be killed by a bullet."

- He DID refuse the blindfold as predicted

- Saddam said, "Ashadu an la ilaha ila Allah, wa ashhadu ana Mohammedun rasool Allah…" Which means, "I witness there is no god but Allah and that Mohammed is His messenger." These are the words a Muslim (Sunnis and Shia alike) should say on their deathbed

- he called on the Iraqis to fight the western powers.

- He indeed died a martyr, to Sunni's at least.

Going on the premise that the future is somewhat changeable in the smaller details of occurrences, I personally think that this was a strong Gaiaman hit. Others may disagree, but so be it.

In the immediate aftermath of the execution, we have the rumblings of Sunni-Shiite civil war breaking out all over Iraq. So I'm now looking at Gaiaman's predictions of subsequent events - both made in May 2005.

"For Iraq I see only 1 important place. THE HIDDEN PORTAL! Desperate searching, late discovery. The war will last. From there the American boy, will cross the border to Syria. They will be attacked in the back from Iran. The other Great War then will start, and go over the planet. It will reach Europe and USA."

"Tensions will heat up between Syria and the USA the coming time. It will come to an American Invasion in Syria."

At the time he made these predictions, they seemed curious indeed. How and why would the US invade Syria, only to have Iran invade Iraq to hit US forces in the east? What circumstances would cause such an odd combination of events? But now - what with the Sunni-Shiite Civil War in Iraq, this is a HIGHLY plausible sequence of events. Here's how I think this could come to be:

The US is now set to expand troop levels in a surge operation to quell this expanding Sunni-Shiite civil war, which was accelerated by the Saddam execution. The new man in charge of the Iraq War effort, Lt. Gen. David H. Petraeus, is considered to be highly proactive and is predicted to take aggressive action against civil war instigators. Syria is 74% Sunni and has been actively supplying fighters and weaponry to Sunni insurgents in Iraq. So has Iran - although to Shiite terrorists instead. So the US is perfectly positioned right in the crosshairs of Gaiaman's prediction.

It is highly possible that Petraeus will get Bush to agree to an invasion of Syria to attack terrorist bases and training camps. However, it's not like Iran will be sending flowers to Petraeus, since he'll probably be doing some extensive damage to Shiite militias in Iraq as well. When the US military stretches itself to go west into Syria, Iran might calculate that it would be an opportune time to cause a little trouble in eastern Iraq, and cross the border itself, either with large amounts of "deniable" insurgent volunteers, or with regular Iranian units themselves (although I think the former is far more likely).

And after this happens, the war escalates all throughout the Middle East, drawing in Shiite versus Sunni, and both against the Western powers and non-Islamic nations- with major worldwide terrorist attacks on Europe, the US and other allied nations.

I think all this is very likely to happen this year. In recent days, the saber-rattling on all sides has ramped up a quantum notch. As I write this, 2 US carrier battle groups are headed for the Gulf area, Israel is accomplishing not-so-secret practice bombing raids on simulated Iranian nuclear sites, and Iran is defying UN resolutions, vowing to continue nuclear enrichment efforts and is threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz.

Yup, we're on the brink of WWIII. Kansas is going byebye!!
