Thank-you for your response. I wasn't asking for your benevolence. I was just asking an honest question about why you guys spend so much time and energy with this thread? I haven't decided for sure yet "If its not for me". What does it offer you? I haven't seen anything so far that says this guy can find his own ass with both of his hands. Show me some stuff that he's said that's come true, show me how truly remarkable he is. I was just curious about the culture of this thread. Thanks!

Fair enough. I recognize that it's a very daunting task to go sorting through 200-plus pages of online content, but you don't have to. One of the readers compiled his posts into a very easy-to-read PDF document that you can download from this site:

The online pages, however, provide viewers with verification of original content and date.

As for the misses, everybody speculates as to why no predictor is ever 100 percent correct. Perhaps it has to do with the nature of Time and the Future itself. Perhaps the Future is changeable and not fixed, or...maybe predictive visions offer a range of possibilities. I frankly don't know. What I do know is that so far, Gaiaman's predictions concerning the massive movements of nations and their geopolitical alignments have been spot on. Individual isolated events have sometimes failed to occur within the timeframe specified by Gaiaman, but the big events have generally fallen into place.

Also, bear in mind when he made the bulk of his predictions (May 2005) and that they cover the period 2005 to 2012, so the jury is still out on predictions that were either specified for later years, or did not have a specific year referenced.

If you read the PDF you will be able to verify many "hits". Although certain predictions may be subject to debate as to whether they actually hit or not, there is no shortage of nondebatable successes that are far beyond what even the most diehard skeptic could attribute to simple chance. You won't see any no-brainer forecasts such as "Britney Spears will get married and then get divorced next year".

Very nicely put! bump

I think, for the benefit of new viewers, that another PDF should be produced containing the "hits" so far, although many would be subject to debate. But, honest debate is healthy.

In any case, here is a partial list of what I think are Gaiaman's most important or obvious hits, which is by no means complete. Others who have knowledge of different world regions may add their own "hits" to this list, but these are some that were easy for me to spot.

- The fall of Schroeder
- Election of Merkel in Germany
- Rise of Ahmadenijad in Iran
- Space Shuttle in-orbit problems
- the second terrorist attack in Bali (names the street too)
- Terrorist attacks on Christians and Buddhists in Southern Thailand
- The sudden fall of Sharon due to health problems - and not a bullet
- The election of Olmert and his singular focus on peace
- The civil war between Hamas and Al Fatah in Palestine
- The long-range rocket attacks on Israel from Lebanon
- the arrival of a European buffer force between Lebanon and Israel - and that it would be primarily Italian
- the alignment of Russia, China, Iran, Syria and Venezuela
- the Paris riots, as well as the riots in other European cities
- Serious flooding in Holland
- Severe winter storms in 2006 in the US west and power outages (currently continuing)
- Terrorism in Athens (began just two days ago)
- icebergs hitting New Zealand
- Cruise ship attack by Somalian pirates
- Britain winning the 2012 Olympic Games host competition
- the colors of the 2006 World Cup finalists (he pulled a very clever trick to camouflage the actual teams though)
- The Saddam execution in late 2006 and most of the essentials occurring as he predicted
- PENDING: Outbreak of direct war with Syria and Iran, which is being discussed in the news right now.

My final point is that Gaiaman asks for nothing from the people that read his thread, unlike Strategic Forecasting Companies like Debka and Stratfor that charge huge fees to multinational companies to produce highly detailed yet laughably wrong Global Forecasts. Inaccurate but definitively inaccurate, to quote the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."

If viewers are not convinced by any of his visions, they will not have lost anything save for the time that they freely spend reading about them. So, in the spirit that Gaiaman offers his visions, I offer these thoughts and tools for you to make up your own mind about his visions.

Cheers
