2 cost benefit analysis: unlike firearms road vehicles have a primary function which is massively more intergrated and essential to a functional modern society.

The primary function of firearms to me is to collectively protect against an abuse of government. The English have always been subjects of her majesty though so they're traditionally used to being bullied into submission by those wielding power.

Whereas the US has the opportunity to withstand an attack upon their status as free men by those who would wish to enslave them the UK does not - neither does Australia.

The irony is that gun control in the UK has done nothing to curb the rate of gun related fatalities. The only thing it has curbed is your ability to challenge the authority of those in power.

this is the reason people should allowed to own a fire arm. a fire arm in this society is a rational decision. police only follow up crime after it been commited.

police follow up crime does not and cannot save lives, people need to take responsibility for themselves and thier family. THe law does not protect the innocent.....

make the rational choice for yourself becasue one day your life may bepend on it, even if it is where the road ends in cumbria.

wrong on so many levels

1 police often preempt crimes
2 all societies with lax gun controls have far higher gun fatalities and homicide rates than that in the UK
3 enormous numbers of child gunshot fatalities are recorded as a result of piss poor parents not securing firearms (I need it loaded and ready in my bedside drawer) and kids playing with them.

you assume that most are irrational with fire arms....the problem is not the gun its the person using it..and i am not interested in anyone else just myself and my family. you will always get gun crime and i do not plan on being a statistic through the irrational actions of others.

We only have ONE life.

I don't assume most are irrational with firearms, (I do however KNOW most are dangerously incompetent with them). I assume that if there are more firearms more easily avaiable then more irrational people will find access to the easier.

and the thing is there are ample statistics to back up my assumption.

no, we're talking a guilty taxi driver, who knew that EVERYONE in his local village was pointing the finger at HIM for the deaths of those two little girls.

he went home last night, festered, and then decided to sort it the only way he knew how.

even though he probably NEVER would have been charged, due to lack of evidence/proof, death by a thousand cuts from Chinese rumours was the fate that awaited the remainder of his life, and that for him was unbearable.

imho.

the guy today was a taxi driver he could have used his car to run people over rather than shoot them, but he didn't instead he used guns.

applying the logic and propositioning that a sane aperson with access to a car and guns would just as likely consider using a car is always gong to fail because a sane person doesn't embark on a killing spree.

they are called gun rampages for a reason and the reason is not simply because a car was unavailable.

That makes sense. Give someone a gun, and they suddenly forget about all the other laws they used to obey, like not murdering or robbing people.

Guns cause irrational behavior.

Stand back. I got this one.

OK, Turkey. Get this:

Less than 10% of US citizens go around in public armed. Yet, 29% of all violent crimes are "preempted" by armed civilians.

The societies that have lax gun controls are slave societies. They have neither desire nor will to fight. You will find, however, that in the societies that have tight gun controls the suicide and homocide level goes up (by magnitudes). Sure, gun crimes go down 80% its just that *ALL*OTHER*CRIMES* climb to the fucking moon... even to the point they aren't worth reporting. The Government doesn't give a damn because they're in control and nobody can do anything about it.

You will find that the number of child deaths related to accidental gunshot wounds is tiny compare to the willful slaughter of innocent civilians from gunshot wounds by government agents mistaking targets.

The fact is, I am a big gun control advocate: The government should be controlled and should not have guns: Its a safety risk. The People, however, cannot be even restricted. Government agents with guns are for cleanup and apprehension. Leave the heavy lifting to the people that get the job done: Armed Civilians that do their duty.

What part of "shall not be infringed" am I confused about?

CORONATION STREET EPISODE FEATURING CHILLING GUN MASSACRE STORYLINE AXED
ITV chiefs last night cancelled an episode of Coronation Street just hours before millions were due to watch a chilling storyline that echoed the Cumbria Massacre.

The post-watershed episode was due to feature convicted killer Tony Gordon, played by Gray O’Brien, embarking on a terrifying gun siege in Weatherfield after escaping from prison.

Along with his henchman Robbie, Tony was set to hold prison guards at gunpoint before making his getaway - and then holding people hostage at the Underworld factory.

During five post-watershed episodes planned for this week, viewers were due to see at least one character die as Tony made it clear that he intended to kill his ex-wife Carla, played by Alison King, and Hayley, played by Julie Hesmondhalgh.

A Coronation Street spokeswoman said: ‘Obviously, there are huge sensitivities given the scale of the tragedy of what has happened in Cumbria.

'We postponed last night’s episode (2) and will make a decision about tonight’s (3) episode today.'

A show source said the soap, watched by more than 10 million fans a week, could even be off air

IMO more significance should be put on campaigns to convince people with mental health issues (Including depression) to go see a NHS doctor to help treat them before their mental state gets to a point where they just snap, rather than just finding ways to make it harder to legally own a gun.
