Anonymous Coward User ID: 826286 United States 06/04/2010 12:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Once a summer I have to make a 200 mile trip. With 10% ethanol in the 13 gallon tank, I have to buy gas on the way back. With pure gas, I have a quarter tank left when I get home. I refuse to buy 10% ethanol gas as long as I can get pure gas. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 977691You're lucky you can still find it. In Missouri, it's mandated. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 14870489 United States 04/23/2012 02:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ethanol is a scam to support the price of corn for.... MONSANTO and ADM and their cronies. They not only get to "sell" their corn to the government, they get to raise the price so meat producers have to pay more. On top of that, it forces people to use more gasoline. It is another instance of "The people" which are *big business* voting themselves public money from the coffers. This was the predicted reason for "democracy" being doomed from the start. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 13153070 United States 04/23/2012 10:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I brew my own ethanol using jerusalem artichokes (sun chokes). For my time it costs about .80 cents a gallon to distill. I run it in my 1987 yamaha enduro 350 with drilled out jets. Runs fine. Basically free. Plus i can drink the shit in a martini glass. The corruption comes in with the corn. There are many crops that yield triple the ethanol that corn does. But the government knew that. What were there names? Oh, nobody cares about that. I'll start running ethanol pure in my vehicles pretty soon. The savings will offset any repairs i have to do. But so far it cleans the hell out of a motor. Just gotta have a good warm up. Keep the block warm. And screw buying gas ever again. |

I had a VW Jetta TDI (diesel) and it consistently got 42 MPG, 70% highway 30% city driving. Diesel is the way to go near term. If you want green, bio-diesel is quite a bit better than ethanol. Much of its reused waste oil from restaurants. Even if you grow oil crops, you get a much higher return than fermenting the corn. Old Mercedes Diesel's are pretty cheap and will happily run bio-diesel with some minor hose replacements. One of these days am going to get an electric transmission put in one add a battery, instant hybrid. Couple of hundred horse power DC motor. Leave sports cars in the dust :-) |

I filled up for the rountrip back with pure gasoline ($2.85 per gallon) and got .066 per mile. I got 100 more miles per tank (roughly 10 gallon tank) if you can believe it. Both were mid grade fuels in 2 different states. I really like the pure stuff better but it's getting harder and harder to find. Any Tales or comments of your own? i csn not only believe it i can prove it too ! slcohol in gas loses combustion and milage engines ping which leads to failure !a pre determined fact du to pre ingition and pisto valve failure |
