an IT question
friend got a company site and person that used to run it died on cancer
no password or known domain is left
what can he do to restore control of the site??
or at least get adress of the hosting company to call them for password as it was registered on institusion.

You can build a mirror of the site under your name. Then when the domain name is released from non payment, you can purchase it.

do a whois lookup for that domain..will tell you the name of that company

Nameservers may not necessarily point you to the webhost. Here's the sure fire way.

Run a dig on the domain name, take the IP address it resolves to, and run a whois on the IP space. That will tell you where the domain is hosted.
