Oil leaks into the sea like this all the time naturally its not enough to cause any problems like drilling a huge hole down into it.

Looks to be more gaseous than oily to me. Either way, this is not good. The sea floor must be experiencing a tremendous pressure from below to have this happen. That's far far more pressure than a mile of sea water is exerting downward.

Which begs the question: Just what did BP drill into? With all the gas/oil escaping from the areas we already know about, this doesn't seem to be relieving the underground pressure at all. Now we have seabed cracks oozing crap.

I saw something similar a few nights ago on the intervention III camera apparently a significant distance NW from the well but was unsure of what I was seeing. It was a very large concentration.
