I think that with drilling through a salt diapir and the weight of the slope above the well; we could have significant erosion and a slow salt dome seepage down to the GOM floor.

We know that the drill string has been fractured; the Top Kill failed miserably shows us that and the cracks in the floor seem to show Methane in greater pressure and abundance than previously thought.

Need to have SHR or someone else far more knowledgable than me pipe in. But with the weight of the slope above the well head and increase in fracturing of the surrounding area sure seems to lead credence to the thought of a massive slow landside to the GOM floor.

That is a huge amount of mass over the BOP and from what i have read if the fracturing continues the whole mountainous mass will come sliding down.
