More than twelve United States Naval warships and at least one Israeli ship crossed the Suez Canal towards the Red Sea on Friday, British Arabic Language newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabi reported Saturday.

According to the report, thousands of Egyptian soldiers were deployed along the Suez Canal guarding the ships’ passage, which included a U.S. aircraft carrier.

The Suez Canal is a strategic Egyptian waterway which connects between the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea.

According to eyewitnesses, the U.S. battleships were the largest to have crossed the Canal in many years, Al-Quds reported.

Egyptian opposition members have criticized the government for cooperating with the U.S. and Israeli forces and allowing the ships’ passage through Egyptian territorial waters.

They said they viewed the event as Egyptian participation in an international scandal, and added that the opposition would not sit with its arms crossed while the country allowed a fleet of U.S. and Israeli military ships to cross.

Guarding the ships from what threat?

They followed the route of the Iranian aid ships as they headed into the canal. However...it appears according to the report that they claim they are headed to the Red Sea. The Red Sea is major strategic position.

Another article stating that the U.S. warships accompanied an Israeli warship. Article states the obvious, this may be a prelude to war with Iran.

Hey, if you know something...add it to this. The article claims they're heading to the Red Sea. There is nothing in this article nor several others about the Persian Gulf. HOWEVER, there is one article on t.v. today that says it's suspected they MAY be en route to that location.

Needless to say...this is one of the largest build ups in the area in a very long time. Crossing the Suez Canal with such a large number of ships is unprecedented.

The ships will not srtike Iran from the Arabian gulf, it will move way out of range of iran's missiles and suicide boats first.

Probably strike from Red Sea or Indian ocean...gonna be hard for Iran to do anything else but have their little cheerleaders around the internet cry real hard.

if you think about what you just posted you would realize that the U.S. 'pressure' since day 1 is as a result of the Israeli lobby. Iran has never been a direct threat to the U.S.

ask yourself this: why is the U.S. engaged in war with 2 of Israel's enemies and lining up to engage with a 3rd?
