flo28Az3 Ours where ducks. The first year (my mums house) it was a new roof, fix chimney and install new fireplace. Then a new conservatory. So there was no time to do anything hardly except mow the lawn.

Rather foolishly in retrospect she allowed a duck to bring up 6 chicks, and of course this year it came back with it's mate. So we half drained the pond, then the pump broke. So I made an 8 ft x 4 ft island from some pallets held just above the water line with breeze/cinder blocks and bricks.

But they still came back and used the much reduced amount of surface area. So in the end I had to use canes and 4" nylon netting, which works. But it was all a lot of trouble.

omyulipmaximcaq violet Ah lots of work coming up for the next few days. I was fortunate enough to find 10 really nice blackberry, raspberry, gooseberry and some other bushes at this late time of the year. So I'm off to me mums tomorrow for 3 or 4 days.

janettbouq

Whew! Pretty much non stop since Friday. 3 blackberry, 3 raspberry, 2 red gooseberry, 1 redcurrant, 1 blackcurrant all in. Low brick wall for another little veggie plot completed and planted with 1 transplanted strawberry that was being smothered by the tomatoes in it's previous position. courgettes, carrots, a bell pepper and spring onions.

Today transplant 2 really nice ornamental trees that have outgrown their pots, put in 2 rosebushes, and a zillion little jobs.
