I grew up on Tampa bay back in the 60's. As I remember, it always smelled.

Not only is this not the first time it's been posted here, I also read the linked article several days ago - even though it has yesterday's date on it at the veteran's site.

If they publish it again in a few days, you don't need to post it here again. Re-issuing it doesn't make it new.

But if you see something new - like how they plan to evacuate millions of people, I'd be interested in seeing that.

perhaps i'm an idiot..or ready to meet my maker..but it would have to be circumstances that were in my face / time to go..

for example, with hurricanes..when chance of 3 or above we leave...simply because i've done disaster relief and have seen with my own eyes what a 3 can do, too.

what amazed me the most was it can bring out the best in people, and the worst. you learn to spot the worst..no matter how smooth talking....as they say, eyes are the window to the soul

Greyhound one way bus tickets are cheap.

If I was poor I would buy one and get the fuck out. The Greyhound bus depots would be great to stay in until one can find their bearings.

The people down there have limited choices.

1. Stay and die

2. Stay and get sicker than hell for the rest of their lives and then die.

3. Stay and let FEMA take care of them. We all know how that turned out during Hurricane Katrina.

4. Take a calculated risk and get the fuck out anyway you can.

Those that have jobs are going to lose them anyway.

Those that have property will see their property values plunge to zero and they'll have to move anyway as the gubmint will declare said properties "uninhabitable."

Those that stay will become victims of horrendous crimes.

Those that stay will be without electricity and fresh water if they shut down the nuclear reactor...which at this point in time seems likely.

Stores and gas stations will be closed down.

The point is if they are talking about evacuations now, what about what happens if this oil pipe is still spilling 2 years from now?
