When I posted about the gates you'll note I referenced the evacuation debacle. That's because both I-95, I-16 became parking lots. If we had a direct hit as was feared many people would have died. So even with one way directional traffic flow, it's pretty much an exercise in futility.

I read the same thing happened with Katrina and about 9,000 were trapped on I-10 who died when it too became an evacuation nightmare. But, that was a leaked report so don't know how true it was.

But, the reason I came back was to tell about the strangest thing I've seen on these backroads was a convoy of flatbeds carrying these like 5X5 concrete "booths" with a steel mesh door on one side only with a wire mesh window to let in the only light.
