My computer screen is messing up. Any advice???

I have an acer laptop. My screen is on the fritz and I can only see 3/4 of my screen. If someone can tell me how to take a screen shot I can post it and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Anyways my mouse looks as if it can go to the portion of the screen I can't see.
I have to shrink my browser so I can scroll the screen.
I've tried to restore to an earlier time but thats not working. It won't restore.

hit the print screen key for a screenshot, it copies it to the clipboard so you have to paste it to a blank pic in paint, then save.

okay something weird is going on I pasted the screen shot into paint and the screen I cant see on my actual desktop is showing up.

Obviously either your video card is failing, or your LCD panel is failing. Hook up your laptop to an external monitor and see if that video looks normal. If it does, you need a new LCD panel.

As I said, based on what you're saying, it's likely either the bottom backlight, or the inverter which powers it. Did you do the flashlight test?

Anyhow, at this point that's irrelevant, because we know it's a physical problem.

Maybe your resalution has been change. Try and start it in safe mode and see if the screen is right

Ok, that's a bit different! =-)

In that case, it's not uncommon with Acers for the LCD ribbon cable to work itself partially out of it's connector on the motherboard. Look up the disassembly for your particular model and check that the ribbon cable is neither frayed nor unseated. In the meantime, you can use it with an external monitor, as suggested here by others.

If the cable is fine, then it's a transistor issue, and you will need to replace the whole LCD.

I know what he's saying, hence it is neither a driver nor video card issue, and with the image at the bottom of the screen whited out with grey / white compression, ALSO not inverter or backlight. Hence, as I said, either he's got a partially unseated cable, or a bad LCD. Either is equally likely, as I encounter both regularly when doing warranty repairs on Acers.
