The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, CNN, July 8, 2010:

There’s a question about dispersants… The [seafood safety] testing is for something known as aromatic hydrocarbons.

The problem is these dispersants — which a lot of people have talked about Wolf — there’s no specific testing for those.

So its a little bit hard to know whether or not the testing ultimately is going to provide some guarantee of safety with regard to that.

Uh, yeah, that's bound to be effective testing since the aromatic hydrocarbons evaporate from the crude oil within days of it entering the sea water.

Morans,

How is it that common folk on GLP know this but scientists and food safety experts have yet to grasp the concept?!?

I know my grocery store here in Oregon is full of the brand name "Gulf Shrimp."

I'm not eating any more shrimp because I don't really know where it comes from - certainly not the Oregon Coast. I'm trying to wean myself off all seafood...

I feel that Ed (TV) is the apotheosis of a prevailing American syndrome. It used to be that someone became famous because they were special. Now people are considered special just for being famous. Fame, itself, is now a moral good in this country. It's its own virtue.

I apologize for being slightly wealthy from a relative viewpoint. I don't want anyone to think we have not worked very hard for it. My Canadian GF and I.

In my neighborhood we live in a small house compared to most.

I live on beautifull, Long Island. I expect the oil to screw us too in time.

The wonderfull Gulf shrimp are still on the plates, I'm expecting them not to be but the really good shrimp are still on the menu.

Asian shrimp don't come close.

Best Wishes
LVX!

The key is to make sure they are steamed. Also make sure sure you have lots of sauce on hand, that eliminates alot of the aftertaste
