Re: When the revolution comes, what will we change about the Constitution?
I'd like to see bills introduced to the legislature contain just ONE issue. No more piggybacking multiple items into one bill. No more pork.

Bill's shouldn't be more than a few pages (plus reference materials). If the total package is more than 100 pages - it's got too much bundled into it.

All Congressmen are required to READ all bills prior to voting. No limits on the discussion of the bills.

All Congressmen are required to be in the forum during all discussions.

All Congressmen are required to listen to their constituency and vote according to will of the people - not the will of the party.
 Quoting: Copernica

I have given that a lot of thought, but I have not thought of a way to make it stick. Anyone that does not read the bill should not be allowed to vote on it. Violation of this rule should be punishable by fine and jail time.

If there was ever a revolution again in america, it wouldn't last long because their would be 100 million foriegn troops lining up to invade and take advantage of the disunity as an opportunity to grab america as a prize for themselves. We'd all be speaking chinese or russian before it was all over.

I doubt it. There are too many armed Americans here. Most other counties realize that taking America would be harder than taking Afghanistan. Even China could spend 20 years here and end up leaving hundreds of thousands of little yellow bodies behind when they leave.

Maybe we should give the federal elections vote only to those who actually pay federal taxes.

Might be elitist. On the other hand, we are now at nearly forty percent ( and some say more) who pay no federal income taxes at all.

They are the ones who vote in the progressives who promise them all sorts of entitlements because it is all "free."

By all means let us be compassionate to our elderly, our sick, our disabled and our very poor.

However, we do not need to be suckers.
 Quoting: anonanon 1033359

The last estimate I read was 40 to 50 percent pay no taxes, and up to 60 percent get more than they pay. I would take all of them off the voter roles. Freeloading is the 2nd biggest growth area of our economy, behind only government jobs.

Term limits Two terms in any one office in a lifetime.

repeal the 17th amendment

State clearly that the constitution is limits on the FEDERAL Government, and the BILL OF RIGHTS are limits on ALL Government.

And for God's sake, Reign in the Commerce Clause. Make it state that it is to only regulate THE FLOW of interstate commerce as it crosses state borders. That the Fed cannot regulate products.

Remove the power of the Federal government to withhold funding from a state if they do not ascribe to a new or different Federal mandate or law.

The Federal government is to stay out of education. It is reserved to the states AND the people.

Limit and clarify presidential powers such as presidential orders, Military powers, and remove the ability to wage limited war.

Remove the Presidents authority to declare Martial law. Involve the senate vote.

Reuire a blance budget and to spend no more per year that the Feds take in.

Compensation is to be payed if the governments actions cause real or monetary damage due to normal operations. (example: Businesses shut down when the President is in the area.)

All federal lands that are not needed for infrastructure, military, or Federal business use are to be deeded to the States.

The Federal government may purchase land from a state for the above uses if the state allows, based on popular vote in that state. If the Federal government at any time does not use the tract of land for a period of two years, I reverts back to the state.

No warrantless searches.

No verbal warrants. They must be signed by a judge in person.

Define Natural Born Citizen in regards to the reurements of eligibility of President.

Remove the power of presidential pardons.

Make a provision for recall of the president by the people only at mid term.

Eliminate the Federal reserve and paper money for good. Mae the language unambiguous and clear.
 Quoting: Housedad

Wow! You have given this a lot of thought, but Some of your ideas need a little work. Like illegal aliens should not be afforded constitutional rights at all. They are not citizens therefore are not eligible for constitutional protections. I had not thought of the presidential pardons, but that is one of the most abused powers. Great ideas.
