Congratulations on twins! Lucky you! They are very cute too.

I have Katahdin sheep. I hope the ewe will have twins too. This will be her first lambing. The ram is a sweet guy. He follows me everywhere. We just gave them a bath today, trimming hoofs tomorrow. We are getting ready for the fair, showing the ram, and a few of our chickens this year.

Oh they are beautiful!! My sister in law and her hubby just got Katahdin sheep. I have not had a chance to see them yet. Those are the ones that shed and don't need sheering, am I correct?

I hope she has twins for you! Usually they just have one on their first birthing, but then twins are much ore likely.

Of our four new babies, the chocolate doe is already very affectionate! I love baby noises in my ear.

yes, they don't need sheering, or tails docked! They just shed their winter wool coats, and in the summer their coats look like deer. Katahdin sheep are a breed of hair sheep, very easy to care for. Their meat is much sweeter, because they don't have lanolin, so it's not oily meat like regular lamb.

He has chocolate chip spots on his back, and nose....He is still young, and one of his horns broke off a few weeks ago!
I was so freaked, because it broke all the way down to the core, and bled a lot! Cleaned him up, put some neem oil on it, and now it's growing back again.

Oh your babies are to cute! I love the one with him holding both kids. Great photos, ty for sharing them!
And the one with your rottie! My pitt loves the sheep and chickens. But they run away from her loving them, lol

Both does had twins! wow really lucky! I can't wait for lambing time! Their milk is very good too, so I will be milking her, and making ice cream, and cheese with it.

We haven't gotten to milking yet. So much to learn. I hope to start this time though, THEN we will get into cheese making ect..


I used to be scared to death of goats but find them to be just as smart, funny, and loving as dogs. Just as troublesome too. :Silly-MG:

I ran a goat dairy for years and september/october was the birthing season.

You used to be scared of goats? Ah they are to friendly, and cute. We were going to get goats, but since they are great escape artists, we decided on the lambs instead. But I still do need to rebuild part of my dog fence to keep the sheep in. But after I secure my fence, I may get a NDG to add to my farm. They are just to cute. Let me know how they are for milking, now that you have the 4 kids, you should get plenty of milk for yourselves! Fresh goats milk is so good, and won't taste goaty, it depends on what they eat I hear. I can't wait for lambing, so I can try milking her. The milk is suppose to be sweet.

Yeah I used to be afraid of American Pit bull Terriers, lol

When we first got Maya my pit, I had chihuahuas. Maya was four months old, and was a rescue I found on craigslist. Her and her brother, ( he looked just like Petey from the little rascals, with brown spot over one eye!)were kept in this couples garage in a kennel. The kennel was one of those large wire ones from walmart, but there was 6 puppies growing up in that kennel in the garage! Anyways, her and her brother were the last ones, and by 4 months old, the kennel was way to small for them to have been living in it! She was covered in poo, dirty, and the man let both pups out into the garage. He said his wife raises chihuahuas, and is tired of his pitt bulls.

So he has to get rid of them all. She won't allow them to run and play in the garage, so they have had to stay in the kennel since they were born. The mother UKC registered, lives in the small back yard, the sire is a champion duel registered in the AKC and UKC! He was going to raise them, but wifey hates them. Just then entered the misses with her chihuahua! I was again appalled by the looks of her chi! It was skinny, I could see it's ribs, and hip bones. She told me she only feeds her chis veggies, no meat, to keep them small!!! I told her look at my chi, yes he is bigger than the stupid akc standard, but he is healthy, and dogs are carnivores they need meat! The husband said he told her that, and she said she wanted 800.00 for the pup. I told her the ad on craigslist said rehome adoption fee was 150.00! She said whatever, and good riddance to them both!

I wanted to take all her chis, and Maya's brother with me just then, but I didn't have my farm at that time, and lived in a RV until closing of my farm at the end of that month or I would have taken her brother too at least! The man was very sad to see her go, and picked her up, and she gave him plenty of kisses. He gave me her papers, but I didn't care about that. That was nearly 2 1/2 years ago now.
She is the sweetest dog I ever had. I have had shelties, a wolf husky mix, and chis. But my Maya is the sweetest dog ever! She loves cats, dogs, people, and loves the chickens. She wants to give the sheep kisses, but sheep are very skittish, and it may take some time to get them used to her friendly kissing, lol

Sorry to ramble on, but I love animals, lol I keep looking on craigslist for rescues. I got all my chickens free that way, and most are show chickens too! My silkie hen laid 15 eggs, and 10 chicks hatches out last month! I never raised chickens before either, so consider ourselves blessed at getting the hen to go broody, and all these chicks! Baby farm animals are they cutest things ever, and now I have 26 chickens, lots off eggs, and meat soon! Some are pets, and will never be on the menu:) Like my 2 sheep, chip is a show sheep, and both are my breeding pair, so they won't ever be on the menu. I may sell their offspring, or if she has twins, keep one, and use the other for meat. I will add another ewe to my small flock later next year. I only started my farm a few months ago now. It has taken some time to put up fences, built the barn, and coop. Still expanding the barn and coop! Always work that needs to be done on the farm, but it is the most rewarding job/lifestyle ( besides motherhood ) I have ever known!

I want to buy up more acreage, as my flock gets bigger. If you have a FB account, add me. I would love to talk goats and sheep, with you since both are similar.

I had "goat trauma" when I was young. :Silly-MG: We went to visit a friends farm to see his new calf. We all walked out to the pasture and OOo'd and Awww'd for a while then everyone went back to the house, except me. I stayed for a while just looking at the baby. When i started to walk back across the pasture I found myself surrounded by three goats who decided to pick on me. They were all taking turns raising up and head butting me. I must have been pretty young because I remember them looking me eye to eye. The horror! The trauma! :Tears-and-tissue:

I lived, but it just got stuck in my brain that goats are mean. Now I understand they just wanted to play.

Wow! We could be great friends! Our three big dogs are all rescues too. The Rott N' Weiler was rescued by animal control at 4 months old fro his owners because he was tied to a tree with a cain wrapped around his back leg, and the leg up over his head for something like 6 hours. Poor baby. He was skin and bones and not well socialized either. he had nightmares for years but those seem to have stopped now. Best dog in the world! Well, except for yours of course.

LOL We have two rescue Llamas too. The chickens and rabbits are not rescue though.
