weegie User ID: 1038687 United Kingdom 07/17/2010 02:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I bought a pack of grits, I like mine sweet. Some people think this is nasty, because they are used to eating them salty, with a lil' pepper and some cheese, maybe even some shrimp. How were u taught to eat em? Quoting: WeAreWatchingYouSalt peeper and butter Peeper? LOL...something should be done with peepers...hadn't considered cooking them. |

Rygel User ID: 990018 United States 07/17/2010 03:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As someone who grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and now living in Florida, I never really had grits before I moved. But it does taste almost identical to Farina/Cream of Wheat, just a little (not much) less "creamy." I put some butter & sugar in my grits. It's a war of wills. Where else would I get a chance in a fair fight where I have the advantage? ---Rygel XVI |

Rygel User ID: 990018 United States 07/19/2010 01:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've been told that grits are similar to the italians acini(Ah-she-nee) add butter, cheese etc.,but it's a rice. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1039459Hominy maybe (which if I understand right, Hominy grits is just corn kernels left to soak in a weak lye solution so they expand & get soft) "Grits" are just coarsely ground hominy which resembles Farina (cream of wheat) but made of corn instead of wheat. It's a war of wills. Where else would I get a chance in a fair fight where I have the advantage? ---Rygel XVI |
