They hated a big powerful federal gov. They said the fed gov can't take away free speech, can't take away your guns, can't tell states how to run themselves, and many more. They knew that people that want to become politicians ALWAYS want to control the people. It is kind of cool that they knew this but really sad that it is happening anyway.

I can't find anything funny about that. And even less funny that 99.99% of the poeple dont get it (all over the world, not only in your place).

All my childhood I looked up to America, even whished I could live there some day in the future because of the freedom you guys had. Nowadays going to America because of all the "freedom" might be out of the frying pan into the fire.

You still have great landscapes over there, though certain british companys are working overtime to get done with that, too.

Re: Isn't it funny that the founders of this great country knew what would be it's downfall?
It seems easy to predict that a monopolistic organization of institutionalized theft and initiations of violence against the relatively innocent won't end well.

"Gentlemen may retain their opinions; but I look on [the Constitution] as the most fatal plan that could possibly be conceived to enslave a free people."
~Patrick Henry

"Most minarchists/constitutionalists would agree that we live under a government (governments, actually) of delegated powers and authorities.

They would also agree that no individual or group of individuals has the legitimate authority to extract property from another by force, no matter how "noble" the reasons for doing so may be.

Logically, since legitimate government powers are delegated, and no individual or group of individuals has the right to extract property from others by force, there was NEVER any power of taxation to delegate in the first place. One can't delegate a power one doesn't possess."

"At what point does armed robbery become magically transformed into something just, right and proper (taxation)? How many people does it take for the EXACT SAME ACT to be transformed from a moral outrage into a righteous act? And, exactly how does this magical transformation occur?

Also, from where exactly did the DELEGATED power to tax come from? What is its legitimate source? WHO EXACTLY had such a power to give to government in the first place?

I've yet to see ANY minarchist/constitutionalist provide a reasonable answer to any of those questions."

"But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain – that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it."
~Lysander Spooner

No...they warned that government will take away those rights you speak of if we are complacent. And yes, it is sad that it is happening.

We need term limits on the Supreme court...

Oh hell...I was going to list a whole bunch of things that need to change, but I think you get the picture.

Stand up and get involved.

Even if it has to start over from scratch some day...

They created an imperfect system. Any system where people can vote without being educated is a disaster waiting to happen. All the politicians had to do is start making promises to uninformed losers. Now Obama nearly has his end-game. Once he creates the critical mass of people who depend on government services for survival, the Democrats will never lose another election.

The hard working minority in this country will holler and shout until they are blue in the face, but they will never overcome the handout loving majority who will perennially re-elect the Democrat socialist party to protect their own interests.
