I expect you are right about that. But this is different; it is more in-your-face. There was no pretense about the citizen's rights before the Caesar, and now finally the USA is dropping its pretense as well. It is a bold move, bypassing the elimination of the Senate altogether and just asserting direct authority over the citizenry.

If the President can openly order the assassination of one US citizen without due process and get away with it, he can order the assassination of any Congressman, any Senator, any Supreme Court judge.
