Why do places like Six Fags, Geogia Aquarium, and other attactions charge $4.00 for a coke and $6.00 for Fries?

You don't know what extra taxes are placed upon travel and leisure enterprises? Do you no know that the entire grounds are taxed on a per foot basis?

Do you not know that the "end user" pays all taxes?

Having trouble affording the vacation this year? Oh, Atlanta, the choice for fun in 97-degree heat!

Yep, most movie theatres pull the same shit.

You're not paying just for the product, the ambience is included in the price. You are eating fries at Six Flags. You are drinking a coke at Six Flags. Enjoying the high-touch carnival atmosphere plus the views of the rides and attractions etc. plus mingling with thousands of other people in a fun situation.

So eat and drink and soak in the experience -- it is novel and rare, not everyday nor typical. Take enough money to enjoy the time spent and memories made, and don't complain.

For that price they could AT LEAST prepare it better or have things on their menus not drowned in cheese, mustard, ketchup, and mayonnaise.

We usually drive a few blocks up to Atlantic Station to eat after visiting the aquarium...

The problem I have is that they will NOT let you bring in your own water! Nope! YOu have to buy everything in the park or try to find a water fountain.

And why the hell do they charge 15.00 to park there, after paying a ton of money just to get into the park. Boycott!

oh and don't think you can sneek a bottle of water in....they check your bags for security sake...find the bottle and tell you to throw it out.

The answer is: because they can. So do the baseball and football stadiums and most of the other "attractions".

Not to mention the 15 dollars to fucking park on top of the 30-40 dollar ticket. I went last Friday there was like no one there.

Because they can! Captive audience. Since people still buy them there it is clear that they can charge those prices. The price is registered as too high only when the sales drop off. That is basic price elasticity in micro economics.
