July 2010 becomes hottest month in Moscow history

A heat wave has gripped Moscow since mid-June and there are no signs the temperatures will fall below 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) in the near future.

Due to the heat, the Army has allowed its soldiers to roll up their sleeves and unbutton their shirts.

Army called to fight fires
Portugal is on fire and not just the firefighters who are in practice: Popular trying to protect the goods, airplanes help Spaniards, and now the Army is also on the ground. Some people complain of lack of means to fight more than 400 fires that broke out yesterday across the country In all, 500 elements of the Army to help, 390 of them on the ground. The rest serve as a liaison between the Army and Civil Protection. The high number of fires has led firefighters to admit they have the device "dispersed and exhausted." Six platoons of the Army, a total of 150 elements, Caminha, Alcacer do Sal and Viana do Castelo, have collaborated in the aftermath. Another 250, under a protocol with the Directorate - General of Forest Resources, oversees the national forests, and fitted car kits themselves, make an initial fight fires. "Every year the Army assistance in fires and the number of troops could increase. In 2009 we got to have 20 platoons on the ground," said the spokesman of the Army, Helder Perdigão.

Already in Lomba, Gondomar, the popular media had to rely on themselves - tanks and hoses - to fight the flames, which were within meters of houses, on the afternoon of yesterday. "Fire" Not one. I know they have much to do, but not a car? "Questioned Carminda Viana, 52. "They were all busy and the means we have communicated this to his superiors," said José Oliveira, commander of the Firemen Lourosa, which have an agreement with the Board of Gondomar to provide relief in Lomba.

FENCING FIRE SEVERAL HOUSES

The faces of children, adults and reflected the fear they felt yesterday, about 13:00, when the flames began to threaten the houses of the village of being low in Agueda. At night, the fire continued to dominate.

"If I did not die in these three days, do not die so soon. I do not know how my heart is holding up," said Armandina, 74, owns a house in jeopardy.

I was working in the Dodecanese (Aegean) couple of weeks ago and it was the hottest I've ever experienced out there. 08.30 the thermometer was off the scale -over 50 - in the shade.
