"Property owners had harsh words for the Adams County commissioners and for Tim Barr with 21st Century Appraisals, the company that handled the reassessment. Some people say the company has made mistakes in evaluating property. Homeowner, Nick Mirshandani of New Oxford, says the value of his property went up nearly 700%.

"My property value was assessed at $66,000 in 1990, it came back at $423,000 and that is a 638% increase," said Mirshandami.

Alexandra Escalera, concerned by her own reassessment, organized the meeting. She says she is overwhelmed by the turnout, almost every seat in the auditorium was filled. Over a thousand people showed up.

"People don't leave their homes in this town, so for this many people to come out of their homes, it means something, it speaks volumes to what is going on, the pain, the frustration, the fear" said Escalera.

Escalera says the group won't be backing down until they have answers.

Anyone who disagrees with their reassessment can contact the Adams County Tax Assessment Department. Appeals must be submitted by August 10th."
