I can't speak for gay men in general, but this is what I learned from my trans-sexual support group and my psychiatrist.

A very common theme in trans-sexual childhoods is that they were beaten up in the womb.

(Honestly, what's with straight men beating up women pregnant with their own children?)

The psychiatrist thinks that this trauma leads to hormonal changes in the womb, affecting the brain. I think it also leads to estrangement between mother and child. The infant boy never learns to speak properly, because the mother doesn't talk to him much and looks away when she does.

I had a terrible lisp, when I was a child. In grade 6, I moved to Vermont, where they had a school system speech therapist. All she had to do, to cure me of my lisp, was to tell me "Look at my face while I make this sound." Then I was able to make the sound properly myself. I didn't get that as an infant.

Be thankful, your mother taught you how to speak, OP, and stop laughing at people who didn't have that luxury...

so they lisped since birth? I know of a homosexual that did not display this behavior until he was a practicing homosexual and then did his lisping start, I say it is learned behavior.
