What baffles me is, if there are magicians as skilled today as there were back in Moses' time, why aren't they doing the same showy-type magick/enchantments publicly to attract more followers? Is it because the Holy Spirit is here now, whereas it wasn't back then?

They could only duplicate some of Moses' miracles but stopped at bringing forth lice. The magicians failed and said, we can't do this. It is the Finger of God.

From my research, most of these Secret Societies trace their origins back to ancient Egypt, and, as you can read in books like "The Secret Teachings Of All Ages"...(above) and in writings like the "Confessio Fraternitatis"...They absolutely do claim to have these "supernatural powers" (Magick - and I don't mean Chris Angel or David Blaine)...

I believe they can perform certain things (as the Egyptian magickians did)...But...As you wisely noted...Only up to a certain point... - Exodus 8:19, Exodus 9:11

So why don't they perform such feats as this anymore publicly?

Remember the legend of "The Apostle Peter vs Simon The Sorcerer"?...
