I would like to fix the education system. If we focus on teaching kids how to think, instead of what to think, society would begin to improve over several generations. Not a quick fix, but a solid foundation to get things moving in a better direction.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 977661

Agreed. I would go further with your idea, that its not a fix, but is the correct way to approach living and teaching in the first place, we shouldn't be doing anything other than it in the first place.

Free thinkers are just too 'dangerous' I guess.

That everyone was BLIND to the physical. That sexuality did NOT come into play with EVERYTHING.

I guess...."Beauty is in the eye of the BEERholder!"
Fox

Good point everything is gender driven these days. It makes for an uneasy underlying tension when it comes to absolutely everything. That's what I think a soul-mate is good for.

Cheers

I used to believe in "soul mates".......I thought I would find my "soul mate" , I was looking for "nub in all the wong paces"......(LOL) seriously......I found my true love, he is 4 years old and very moody, has alot of energy and calls me mommy!

It is funny how I was so naive, thinking that that....." Shakespearean" love existed. I have seen alot in this life, I feel like more than most people. I have come to a place in my life that true love is love that is never demanding, it is freely given!

Fox

Everyone is on a different path. The concept of a soul-mate is just intrinsically wrong for some people I guess. Either they don't need one or it just isn't suited to the sort of person they are.

I'm glad you have found love in your life and most importantly that you learned to understand that love lurks in all places and is a deeply personal thing.

I couldn't tell you if your 4 year old is a child or a talking parrot with alot of energy that can say mommy, but it wouldn't matter either way.

hf

Hey there Resolve, he is my son.....my baby boy! I NEVER really knew what love was until I had him. It is the most wonderful, yet horrible thing in the world , to love this much and have my whole world around him .......my hurt breaks for the parents that have ever lost a child.

Fox

He is a lucky kid.

The power of love is being revealed to me more and more everyday, nto to mention just the nature of it itself.

Best of luck to you and your child.

Make it mandatory for all adults in their early 20's to lay outside on a cloudy sunny day and eat a mushroom chocolate.

And make sure a nice dog or cat is there to spot them.

I would have preferred the world revolved around Nikola Tesla's humanitarian efforts to provide non-polluting 'free energy' to the world human population.

Second, a total redesign of the education system to support Tesla's theories. After all, the man invented the 20th and 21st centuries.

Hey, one can hope.

What is the one thing that gets you down about the society in your country?

What would you change if you had the chance?

eg. Australian's don't have a clue what they want as shown by the inability for our country to form a stable government at the moment, and they are utterly complacent even foolish to some extent.

Sydney's roads suck. In 5 years you won't be able to drive anywhere without passing 100 000 retards who don't know how to drive just to get to the shops.

People not vote against things that are in their own best interest.

Retired to S Carolina..I believe this is most backward place I've ever lived.
In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

Re: *** If you could change one thing about the society in your country, what would it be? ***
That the govt would quit being such control freaks...stop forcing the ideal upon us and charging us exhorbitant amounts to comply...ie

kids saftey car seats - until age 7?!!!!!WTF?

Gas/elec - they forced the price up due to going green - even if we dont believe in climate change being affected by humans. If they are so for going green...why not disallow any new homes that do not have solar panels and make them all 2 storey to cut down on wasted space.

Quitting addictions should be a medical suggestion NOT tax the shit out of everything (tobacco/alcohol) and deny transplants to those that cannot comply...holding us at ransom is so wrong!

Making the cost of getting car Ls/Ps and having to have so many drivers lessons and making registration so bloody expensive only the rich can afford it.

To stop forcing single parents to work....we have a job already and making us use other people take care of our kids at great expense...ie childcare is just ridiculous.
Pre WW2 each household could afford to live on a single wage....now we cannot, we have to be double income families.....so what are they doing wrong?

Stop basing council rates on the value of ones home. Why should people with a nice home instead of a shitbox be forced to pay huge fees when they use the same amount of land, roads, sewerage etc. This means that someone who inherits a million dollar home...or pays for it when they are young...can no longer afford to live there if they lose a job...they cant afford the rates anymore!
