Some interesting stuff going on... we've had some pretty severe storms and a lot of raining/flooding going on here in the Northeast UK...

Yes, there's been power cuts in certain rural areas here too... all because of this heavy weather...

I've had some connection problems myself... hopefully, it's all fixed, up and running for now, though...

I believe some areas are still "out" with their power... I'm hoping mine stays on now...it's been a nightmare, lol...

I also just wanted to add that just before it all went down, (in our area) a good few of us in our neighbourhood heard a very loud "POP" sound just last Thursday gone, 8/9th August at around midnight (BST)...

I went to investigate outside to see if I could find any info from neighbours etc but no one knew what that noise was...

It all escalated from there with our power cuts, heavy storms etc... I'm wondering if this loud popping sound could be related to what has/is going on at all?

The noise seemed to come from everywhere outside, like, no specific area or spot...

It was very loud... I nearly jumped out of my skin with the shock of it...

Anyways, just curious...

We are still experiencing lagging with our broadband services and phone lines/network problems etc at times... I hope it's corrected soon...

Hey, thanks! I am in the process of moving to a rural area right now.
Unfortunately growing own food is not really allowed, but maybe I shouldn’t be that obedient for a change

Rural areas are OK... everyone gets to know everyone's business though in a small town so that's one of the downsides, lol...

You can still grow small veg and things in veg patches, surely?

I do... I help out an elderly neighbour with his veg patches, plants, grass etc in his garden so I get to pick a spot of his garden to plant my own seeds :-)...I live in an apartment so I don't get the benefits of having a garden myself...

I'm currently growing Asparagus, beans and something else is growing in there, not sure what yet, lol...

His are coming on very nicely although the weather is making it hard for us to maintain them intact atm, sadly...I love his rose bushes and lemon tree!... beautiful :-)...

I hope your move isn't as stressful as mine was... it's worth it in the end if it's for financial reasons or to just keep oneself to oneself... (my reason)...

I was stood outside earlier having a piggy and I saw something in the distance like an orange ball coming towards me. My eyes are bad man I need long distance glasses to see passed my arm these days. So i stand looking at it for a few seconds, then this multi patterned shape appears, lots of different rays coming from it.

I run in to get my glasses, but by the time I get back outside, it's gone behind a chimney. So i walk down the garden, to try and get a view over the rooftops, and I can still see a bit of something glowing, and just as it disappears from view , a fast moving orange streak appears at the side of it. What WAS that???
