Anonymous Coward User ID: 1098128 United States 09/14/2010 04:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I used to love HAAGEN DAZ vanilla chocolate almond ice cream then for some reason stopped eating it. a few years later at a kids birthday party they served some. At the first bite I though-"This doesnt taste right" Sure enough, it now had HFCS in it and they had been bought out by DREYERS; When you incur debt you have to cut corners, which is what they did SHAME HAAGEN DAZ used to be the gold standard of ice cream. these days it tastes kind of bland. IT is TOO creamy-the old HD used to have "crystals" of milk/cream like home made does HERSHEYs choc syrup now tastes like choc flavored corn syrup |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1072271 United States 09/14/2010 04:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I noticed hunts ketchup now contains absolutely no high fructose corn syrup. They have changed their label and it's printed in big letters. So I think some companies are starting to wake up to the idea, people are reading labels and avoiding HFCS. Sounds like we'll all have to continue to watch/read labels extra cafeful in the future. |

(like Hunts Catsup, Arnold's bread, Jone's cola, etc.) They taste so much better, and I really believe you automatically lose weight just by cutting out on the stuff. But now they want to trick us, and call it sugar, because more and more are starting to get educated on the stuff. (remember, it was in NOTHING until the 80's, and that's when the obesity epidemic started!) |

(remember, it was in NOTHING until the 80's, and that's when the obesity epidemic started!) Just bought some Jones and Arnold's Bread today. No HFCS for the win. I stopped consuming HFCS last year and lost 30-40 lbs just from that. It was in everything I consumed and once I figured that out and changed my diet away from HFCS the pounds started falling off. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 664728Virtually no HFCS here--found it in ice cream. It's awesome!! Oh, don't forget---HFCS has mercurty issues as well from the manufacturing process. Bad stuff. They did that with Mtn Dew and the stuff tastes like crap. I'll stick to the good stuff with the HFCS |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1004142 Canada 09/14/2010 08:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thanks, OP, for the heads up. I quit eating ice cream, too, a long time ago. It seemed every brand had that danged HFCS in it. Even Bluebelle! But all good things comes to him who waits. Found a good, yummy ice cream bar called Blue Bunny. No HFCS in the ice cream, but there is in the cookie part. I know any is bad, but every now and then it's a treat. They are good! Also, in the Mexican section of some stores, you can find Coke without the "baggage". HEB is one. We can't avid ALL of that nasty stuff, but we can alert each other to the products that sneak it in. Corn sugar! Sneaky dogs. . |

What is so confusing about that? I remember back in the day even Little Debbie Swiss Rolls used to be extremely rich and chocolatey..now they just taste like CRAP. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1098522 Canada 09/14/2010 10:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This keeps on and they won't put anything on the labels anymore. Then what? Most people don't read them anyways. I do and many I know do, but I know of many that could care less as they buy for taste....period. Cost and health be damned, they just want what they think they want. If it weren't so awful it would be fucking funny. |

SaveTheOceans User ID: 1096923 United States 09/15/2010 12:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The major problem isn't the HFCS in of itself, but it's the reluctance of the people to educate themselves on what is good and bad for your body. Our culture suffers from a lack of balance in all aspects of our life. You can't keep dumping shit into your body and not expect health problems.
