An analogy ideal male/female dynamic, to my mind, would be the rider and the stallion.

The female (rider) needs to learn the capabilities of the man, know when he is ready to gallop, when he needs a rub down. And how to get the absolute best out of him.

The male (stallion) to read the desire of the female, gallop when she wants, trot when she wants.

Understanding each other, reading the other, working together to best get from point A to point B.

The OP (Woodsprite) would be the equivalent of the rider jumping on the horse, telling the horse that while it is not really up to her high standards, and despite it looking rather lame, it should run anyway. No flick of the reins, kick of the stirrups, dangling carrot. Just....run you inferior male horse.

And the horse thinks "I'm not going to run for you" and just stands there and chews grass. After a while she has no choice but to get off before he bucks her off, and make the long painful walk to point B alone..

Of course, she is a "strong woman" and eventually makes it to point B, hot, tired and alone......

Meanwhile, a completely different rider came up to the same horse. She rubs the horse admiringly. "Look at you big boy - how handsome and strong! I will very much enjoy riding you my stallion"

And the horse, pumped up and totally motivated stops chewing, and begins to stamp. "Lets ride baby!!!"

And they ride. And reach point B in no time, and have great fun along the way..

To the OP (Woodsprite).. You fall into the same trap many young females fall into these days. You do not understand males, thus squander your greatest resource and potential for fulfillment.

Yeah, sure. You can "do it yourself"...Alone and the hard way like the many "strong independent" women out there.

But there are an enormous amount of wonderful men out there - diamonds in the rough mostly. Motivate them (pump up their egos), they will move mountains for you. Wait for them to do it themselves they will just stand there chewing grass until a half decent rider comes along.
