then 7 years later they discover this

hmm

I have a pdf that show they found this 31 years ago...kinda strange how they with-hold information, isn't it.

Title: Is the solar system entering a nearby interstellar cloud

Authors: Vidal-Madjar, A., Laurent, C., Bruston, P., & Audouze, J.
Journal: Astrophysical Journal, Part 1, vol. 223, July 15, 1978, p. 589-600.
[link to articles.adsabs.harvard.edu]

interesting...

ohyeah

In the abstract they say that the cloud is VERY CLOSE and we are heading into it...again, 1978.

Then, they say, in 2001, it is a 'new' discovery. Straight up lie by decades.

then last year Voyager finally enters the cloud and we hear nothing else about it...
 Quoting: icphotons

Exactly. Xenus has searched, as well as I, and we both hit a wall where no information on the cloud's position or density (or anything for that matter) is available.

...

Well, my guess is that they know the area of interst space it is coming from, because they have viewed these clouds for a while now, and know that we were converging with them. So, they should have a great idea as to where to point the birds...
 Quoting: Sickscent

I agree, I think they know where to point the sensors (direction of movement), and the more I think about it, the spaced based sensors for the next GOES satellite seems to be 'custom fitted' for this kind of detection??? Hmmm?

I'm thinking that humans re not yet allowed out of "sandbox" that is our visible solar system. Heck I'm not convinced humans have ever or could really travel beyond the orbit/influence of our planet.

There is so much we know so little about...

Any possible chance this has to do with the fact that we (our solar system)aren't from the milky way and that possibly the anomaly acting on voyager is speaking to that effect.

I believe in accelerating universe, hard for me to explain in english, but further you are from where you left, its not only the distance that increases, but also in every other dimension, time, density, speed and so on..

Re: Voyager anomaly, fuel leak ruled out.
They've known for a lot longer than 1978.

Priscilla C. Frisch
University of Chicago
[email protected]
Abstract

Speculations that encounters with interstellar clouds modify the terrestrial climate
have appeared in the scientific literature for over 85 years. The articles in
this volume seek to give substance to these speculations by examining the exact
mechanisms that link the pressure and composition of the interstellar medium
surrounding the Sun to the physical properties of the inner heliosphere at the
Earth.

[link to lanl.arxiv.org]

These clouds cannot be observed by our eyes, most of them are dusty and block, absorb or reflect radiation. They can only been "seen" by spectroscopy, by analyzing the absorption lines from what I understand.

It's been shrinking for a while now.

[link to www.telegraph.co.uk]

New data has revealed that the heliosphere, the protective shield of energy that surrounds our solar system, has weakened by 25 per cent over the past decade and is now at it lowest level since the space race began 50 years ago.

Scientists are baffled at what could be causing the barrier to shrink in this way and are to launch mission to study the heliosphere.

Re: Voyager anomaly, fuel leak ruled out.
In wondering how to solve this problem, one naturally wonders if the real world can somehow be interpreted outside 4d reality and embedded in a higher dimensional spacetime described with warped gemetry. if so, the four-dimensional cosmological instants may be uniquely described in two length scales, one scale associated with the size of extra dimensions and the other is a scale associated with the expansion rate of our universe. but we must be able to understand gravity, in 3d.

this could explain string theory, and accelerating space theory

its currently a pitty they are not releasing the true high res pics of Titan from a cassini.

Im waiting for the probe to reach pluto tho,,, but i think i will have a long wait. unless we develop a superior engine before its arrival that can catch up to it and push it faster to get there sooner.
eh i bet the geeks at nasa dint think of that one.
