My beautiful dog died of Pug Dog Encephalitis

I didn't know that there was a disease specific to Pugs.

Years ago I had a Sheltie that had encepalitis.
He went from sick to dead in 24 hours.

I'm sorry for your loss. I know how you feel--had to put my little buddy down a couple of years ago--diabetes and blindness that would have ended in having his eyes removed. I could not do that to him. While he was blind, he was still light sensitive and on insulin. That was working, but when his eyes started swelling, it was time to do something. He was in pain and and old dog at that. It was time to say good-bye rather than make him suffer more. Broke my heart.

So, remember your little buddy fondly and know that he would not want you to hurt alone when you could bring another little buddy into your life, to save another little pup who needs a good home.

RAINBOW BRIDGE
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

My pug Archie is so cuddly and loving and a silly little guy. I would be so sad to lose him and my daughter would be devastated. He has skin problems and has to go on allergy meds each summer and constant ear infections. He costs me a fortune. I'm so sorry.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. This morning I too put down my beautiful baby boy, Bubba. He was 1. A wonderful active pug who brought us so much joy in 1 year. He had pde too. The vet hospital wanted the same money for tests but we opted for blood work and meds to keep him comfy as I had researched the fatal disease and knew without MRI or any other tests that he had it. I can't stand the pain from this loss so I know how you feel. Remember always that she knew how much you loved her and that you shortened her pain and suffering by making the hardest decision to put her down. Take care of you. And regain the strength to be a loving mom to another great doggy one day soon.
