You are too USA centric, lots of reasons for people all over the world to buy PM's.

Unless the Republicans cut Medicaid, Social Security and the military, and raise taxes significantly, we will not have a balanced budget, much less make a dent in the debt we have.

What makes you think that the Republicans aren't bought and paid for?

What makes you think they would behave any better than they did under Bush the Idiot?

Vote 'em all out and start over...then we might have the slimmest of hopes, but I think that hope has left town.

Conveniently for the Republicans, there is a Democratic President in office who can simply veto any bills they pass. Then they can blame the Democrats that remain in Congress when the veto isn't overridden. Then they can stand back and say "See, we tried! It's the Democrats fault! Vote Republican for President!"

Then when they get another Republican President, they will make a run for the Treasury like they do every time they hold all the power...and extend their middle finger to Americans (even and especially those who voted for them).

And then the Democrats will take back Congress, then the White House, and on the cycle repeats as TPTB continue to so easily manipulate the public into thinking this two-party travesty we have is for the best.
