Most Efficient Solar Collector Uses Sterling Engine

Enough solar energy reaches the Earth’s surface in one hour to power the globe for one year. Therefore, it is no surprise that Concentrating Solar-Thermal Power (CSP) is emerging as one of the most promising sources of renewable energy for the next century.

But harnessing this energy requires a breakthrough solution. A solution that is more affordable. A solution that is big enough to meet tomorrow’s power needs and modular enough to deliver predictable power today.

The SunCatcher™

The SunCatcher™ solar dish Stirling system is that solution. It is break-through Concentrating Solar-Thermal Power (CSP) electricity generating technology that has achieved the world’s highest efficiency in the renewable energy industry for converting solar-thermal power to grid-quality electricity, using a small fraction of the water needed by other CSP technologies, and offering the fastest cost pathway to fossil fuel parity.

The SunCatcher™ offers an innovative modular design that is easily deployed and cost–effectively scales with increasing electricity demands. With two of the largest solar farms in the world scheduled to begin construction in California in late 2010, Tessera Solar is about to change the way people think about solar energy and its future in world scale renewable energies.

Two pieces of equipment from the 1800's and voila! - free power! These were excellent videos, OP. Thanks so much for the information. Despite whatever else Con Edison warns about prohibitive costs, I cannot see why this idea will not work in my back yard. Five stars.
