They were sued because they downloaded porn without paying for the movie, thus committing an act of piracy because this is considered an infraction to copyright "laws". If ignorance is bliss, then knock the smile off my face. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1095225 Puerto Rico 09/28/2010 10:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok. A reply to the article on shiny says that the server was not hacked. A DDoS attack simply forces more data to the server than it can handle causing it to go offline. Once the traffic stops, the server will continue as normal. This was all down to an inept admin who failed to secure the server - leaving anyone who happened to visit the site able to download the unencrypted backups with nothing more than a mouse click! Quoting: NightshadeFor some reason I can't pity the admin. Same for a scientist that gets sick from working with GM stuff for Monsanto. When you work for evilness, karma has its duty too. |

Nightshade (OP) User ID: 599165 United Kingdom 09/28/2010 11:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | and why cant one download an adult film.... how is this bad Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1111729The German company that owns the copyright to the cheap porn movies employed the lawyers to track down the people who had downloaded them and send them letters of extortion. The lawyers demand the names of the people who have the IPs from Sky, then send a letter telling them to pay £300-£500 to avoid prosecution. Business Plan: a) Make and copyright a number of cheap pornos b) Upload to fileshare sites c) Employer lawyers to extort money d) Laugh all the way to the bank |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1112800 Australia 09/28/2010 11:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's entirely possible that people will eventually stop using the web because of the lack of personal security online. Imagine, with no users, what would the network providers do? How would they be able to sustain themselves as companies? With network providers dropping like fly's and people ceasing to use the internet, what would Microsoft do? I'm confident that at some point in the next 75 years, there will be an exodus from the internet for this very reason. Perceptions will change. Existing laws will be overturned. New laws will be introduced. The internet will have been a meteoric fad. People will eventually evolve out of it. |
