Quentin Tarantino's long-time collaborator Sally Menke has been found dead near a ravine in Los Angeles. She had been missing since Monday.

An alert for Menke's whereabouts was issued after she took her dog out for a walk in extreme circumstances on Monday, reports the LA Times. Her body was found in a ravine in Griffith Park, with her dog found nearby unharmed. Her cause of death is as yet unknown, but it's been suggested that she was overcome by the heat wave that hit LA earlier this week.

Menke has worked with Tarantino since his debut, 1992's 'Reservoir Dogs’. She said about the film, "He sent me this script for a thing called 'Reservoir Dogs' and I just thought it was amazing."

How is it that a dog is smart enough to survive a heat wave and a human is not?

I used to hike Griffith Park. Anyone is stupid to take a hike in Griffith Park, and knows that if it's 80 degrees out, it's at least 90 on the trail.

She was stupid, and I'm sure the only one hiking in the middle of the afternoon when the heat index was 113 for Los Angeles on that day. Quite possibley close to 120 on the trail.

And in regards to her dog. Animals are smarter then humans.

She should have used her dog as a reservoir ...

Didn't I read that Sage Stallone was involved with Tarantino on a project just before his death? Just saying...

Friend Quentin Tarantino used Stallone's trademark Grindhouse Releasing [us] feature presentation logo before the opening credits of Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) and Grindhouse (2007). Previously they released Lucio Fulcis E tu vivrai nel terrore - L'aldilŕ (1981) together several years earlier.

Dogs can also collapse and die from heat stroke on a long hot hike like that. I've seen it happen.
