That happened here once some guys sculled 750ml bottles of Jim Beam in a pub and dropped dead it was a drinking contest and the other guy who sculled the same was drunk but didn't die but had to go to hospital.

Laying in a pool of his own blood??? damn that vodka was strong ....

that makes no sense - something else had to have been wrong

Booze has become a huge problem over here. This is not a one off at all, it is not unusual for teenagers and people in their early twenties to get through 40 units of alcohol on a night out. (about 1 and 1/2 bottles of spirits) Not cool.

Drinking that much all at once is just plain STUPID!

Something about when your liver fails, your blood starts to seep out of every oriphice in the body.

Not the smartest tool in the shed, a contender for the 2010 Darwin Awards at least.

I'm assuming he was already pretty lit up when he did that.

His BAC was probably pretty high before the humongous surge.

Overview
An abdominal aortic aneurysm is when the large blood vessel that supplies blood to the abdomen, pelvis, and legs becomes abnormally large or balloons outward.
Symptoms
Aneurysms develop slowly over many years and often have no symptoms. If an aneurysm expands rapidly, tears open (ruptured aneurysm), or blood leaks along the wall of the vessel (aortic dissection), symptoms may develop suddenly.
The symptoms of rupture include:
Pain in the abdomen or back -- severe, sudden, persistent, or constant. The pain may radiate to the groin, buttocks, or legs.
Clammy skin
Nausea and vomiting
Rapid heart rate
Shock

Seriously, just go up north, it's out of control.

When i was at Uni this dude in our block downed an entire bottle of vodka.. fucking crazy. He was 18st or so though lol.. a big fella from Cumbria who loved his booze.

It does seem like that to the casual observer.

People binge drink in the USA plenty, too, but in the UK it seems like being completely sauced is glamorized a little more.

(I'm only going by the stories and pics in the british papers' sites).

Maybe it's because in the USA we can't drink in a bar until we are 21, so alcohol poisoning is usually relegated to college dorm rooms and frat houses.

But, then again, this guy is 29!!!

could be true...a buddy of mine..ordered 15 shots at once.jd.lined them up one by one..downing them as fast as he could...fell back over his bar stool...out cold..dead cold...someone kept doing cpr till pra"meds..then juiced him up..then big needle of adrenaline ...cameback to life! vowed to never drink again...lucky bastard..

Abdominal aortic aneurysm

I had 19 shots of JD once but it was over the course of a couple hours. I went to a buck-a-shot special at a bar. I went with $20 and had $1 left at the end of the night. I did manage to drive my car into a ditch but two inches of ice had formed on the roads during the drinking session.

Give me 15 bong shots of the best weed and I still stand!

Mind you Vodka is the poor mans drink. If you want REAL Alcohol, try Absinthe. Some i've seen (and done) have been 85% proof.
