Sounds to me like you are either DeMolay or Order of the Rainbow.
When I was 11, I was approached about becoming a "Rainbow Girl"....to prepare me for the Eastern Star.
I was pressured heavily by my Mother to join, but not really given any info about them other than ' If you join and become part of the Order, your life will be much easier for you'.
I was also told that if I didn't join them then, that if I later in life decided I wanted to, it would be much harder for me to do so.
It gave me the willies...because of all the secrecy involved, and I didn't like that upside down pentacle that the Eastern Star has as their symbol...so I didn't join.
