Re: Who wants to debunk my UFO ?
I was trying to get some sunset shots as I was coming back from the coast across the North York Moors, yesterday. When I got home and checked out my pics I found this strange thing in the sky. I didn't notice it at the time of taking the pic and there was no sound of either aircraft or traffic of any kind.

Looks like an out of focus insect (maybe bee) in flight.

What does all that mean? The camera is mine, I think! What are those dates about?

Oh right I see its showing the software and the easyshare is the default but I then I used the other software to open the original shot because I had to use the one I'd posted on facebook. I accidentally deleted the one on easyshare when I did the close up. Pressed save instead of save as.

Looks like a yet-fighter coming straight at you.

In all seriousness, I've had gray birds appear as "blurs" in my photos and some have even looked metallic as a result. This could indeed be the same phenomenon, but with the bird flying directly at the camera.

No, not a blimp. It was only in the one shot so it it was something moving fast.

It looks like a metal object, I've caught passing insects before and they haven't looked like that but it's possible, I guess.

My fist thought was seagull but the scale is wrong for it's position in the sky. It should have been crisper at that size and clearly a seagull when enlarged.

I can't rule anything out, though, all I know is that my lens was clean and I was outside and there were no sounds other than the odd tweet. I take a lot of photos and can usually debunk my own anomalies but this one has me foxed.

Yes. As you can see it was getting dark and I just clicked a few and saw it when I looked through them on the camera when I got home.

Not an insect, I'm pretty sure. Could be a large bird but you don't often see birds flying solo in a deserted sky at dusk.

Anyway, a mystery it will remain.

I worked for a photographic studio for several years and have come across such things on occasion. In “low light” conditions you are much likely to get such a blurring effect with a moving object such as a bird. If it had been mid day, you would have “resolved” a moving object to a much higher degree.
