In Hindu teachings, there is a god who appears as a lion headed man, with the claws of a lion too.

In times of trouble, he returns to Earth to help. In the past he helped the people of the Earth by killing off the attacks of tiny insects, unable to be seen by the eye. He used his extremely sharp claws, at the very tips, to crush them.

His name is Narasimhavataram.

Hindu teachings tell us that even the life of an insect is valuable, and one should not kill them. Yet this god does, and the contradictory story has been kept as a sacred story.
