Not much volume, but boy that stink. I didn't get the GMO upset stomach like I did many years ago when I last ate the stuff. So I don't know about the GMO, yet. I know they're owned by kelloggs or some big GMO user. What cereal out there is BEST ? ? Thanks. Raisin bran, the 2 scoop brand. I've been living on it for 5 years along with canned fruit in the juice and PBJ's. Ha! She really thought I would starve to death after she left but I learned how to cook for myself. eliphaz |

I have actually used this cereal to pretend I was sick at work one day. Quoting: D 1128264 Anyone else have a Kashi Story? Anonymous Coward User ID: 28210306 United States 11/21/2012 06:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's INULIN, a type of plant polysaccharide that is classified as a fiber source, so Kashi piles it into their cereal to increase fiber. Unfortunately, although humans can't break down inulin, the gut bacteria can and create a foul farting festival in your colon.... I remember eating some sunchokes, which are delicious but fuck what a farting marathon they cause. Here is what a writer described about sunchokes, which are loaded with inulin... English planter John Goodyer on Jerusalem artichokes: "which way soever they be dressed and eaten, they stir and cause a filthy loathsome stinking wind within the body, thereby causing the belly to be pained and tormented, and are a meat more fit for swine than men."[8] |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 18835047 United States 11/21/2012 06:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My husband and I ate some Kashi Go Lean one morning and when we arrived home that evening we got out of the car and each did a very long and sustained fart all the way from the car to the door.....about 50 feet. It was awesome and did not end there. We never laughed so hard......but really, couldn't eat the stuff. It's not OK. and we are....very healthy and fit and fiber is not a problem, nor is proper chewing. Something in there is just not right with that cereal. But once for a fun evening if you are into laughing at monstrous farts, go for it. It won't kill you unless you laugh yourself to death. I'm laughing right now just remembering. Anonymous Coward User ID: 28210306 United States 11/21/2012 06:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Inulin is increasingly used in processed foods because it has unusually adaptable characteristics. Its flavour ranges from bland to subtly sweet (approx. 10% sweetness of sugar/sucrose).[unreliable source?][2] It can be used to replace sugar, fat, and flour. This is advantageous because inulin contains 25-35% of the food energy of carbohydrates (starch, sugar).[3] In addition to being a versatile ingredient, inulin has many health benefits. Inulin increases calcium absorption[4] and possibly magnesium absorption,[5] while promoting the growth of intestinal bacteria. In terms of nutrition, it is considered a form of soluble fiber and is sometimes categorized as a prebiotic. Conversely, it is also considered a FODMAP, a class of carbohydrates which are problematic for some individuals through causing overgrowth of intestinal methanogenic bacteria. The consumption of large quantities (in particular, by sensitive or unaccustomed individuals) can lead to gas and bloating, and products that contain inulin will sometimes include a warning to add it gradually to one's diet. Anonymous Coward User ID: 19961452 United States 11/21/2012 07:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just don't eat those supposedly "healthy", "natural" foods that are actually highly processed substances. Soy is terrible for making gas and messing with your body chemistry. Read the labels. If you did not know anything about an ingredient when you were 10 years old, it is probably not good for you. All food as it comes from the ground and washed clean is natural and healthy, unless it is GMO. So when they say "natural" ingredients all it means is that it did not initially come from a chemical processing plant somewhere. But the food companies take innocent plant products and run them through processes that turn them toxic. Eat food like oatmeal, brown or even white rice, cracked wheat or barley if you want grains. Do not on your life touch soy products. You are better off eating white sugar than you are the new sweeteners, like nutra sweet or splenda. At least your body can process white sugar as a food, not store it around your liver or do other strange things with it because the body has no mechanism to digest it. The closer to the way it was harvested the better ... that is the best rule for food. If you can grow your own, that is even better and better. One more note, if you buy bulk foods, wash them good before eating them. |

I used to be addicted to the Kashi Go Lean Crunch. Everytime I ate it.. I had gas so bad I would have to stay home the entire day after eating it. One day I decided to google Kashi cereal and gas/farts. I found page after page after page of hysterical stories associated with Kashi. This was a few years back so I'm not sure if all the stories are still there but if you want to laugh until you cry.. check it out!! Honestly... this would be like finding gold nuggets for any stand up comedian. The material is endless and I guarantee you can not get through it without busting a belly and crying from laughing so hard.
