Hell's Half Acre
The area of land (allegedly more around one to two acres) is a bit of a mystery to residents in nearby Hot Springs, Arkansas. Despite being completely surrounded by forest and vegetation, this section is completely composed of sharp jagged rocks and no vegetation (aside from the few trees that appear in the satellite photo). The place is reportedly feared by locals and even the hunting dogs and some believe that the devil lurks below. Geologists are said to be baffled and theories range from an extinct volcano (that warms the hot springs in the area) to a vortex that has trapped fallen angels who await their release on the final Day of Judgement.

In the same general area lies a deep black hole. The legend that surrounds it has it as a bottomless hole where a demon has been trapped. Those that pass by night report hearing its groans and shrieks of profanity. As such, people tend to stay away at night.

"Was watching a tv show last night called "Seeing vs. Believing", they were in Hot Springs, off Mill Creek Rd...anyhow, said locals won't go there, especially at night and said that animals won't cross it (they had two coon dogs w/ them that they tried to lead across the rock quarry but the dogs wouldn't have it...they started whining and whimpering....said that birds won't even fly over it..."

It seems that there is some uranium, but not enough to be economically significant. But it's certainly a rockhound's paradise with the variety available. This was a very interesting read OP and thanks again for posting it.

This diamond could only be cut by powder from other Arkansas diamonds.

The rough diamond as originally discovered weighed 40.23 carats (8.046 g). It was faceted twice by Schenck & Van Haelen of New York, a company which specialized in Arkansas diamonds and had handled over 14,000 of them. The company described those diamonds as being so hard that they could only be cut using powder of other Arkansas diamonds.[4] The final result was a 12.42-carat (2.484 g) emerald-cut gem. It was characterized as M on the diamond color scale; this nominally corresponds to a faint yellow color, but the visual impression of Uncle Sam has been variously described as white[1] or slight pink.[2] Judging from the color, the diamond is most likely of pure IIa diamond type meaning the amount of impurities is below a few parts per million. The clarity of the stone was assessed as VVS1, which stands for Very Very Slightly Included and means the stone has minute non-diamond inclusions that are difficult for a skilled grader to see under 10x magnification.[2]

That would make it the hardest material in the world.

I found it particularly interesting because of the description of "where the heat comes from". Texas also has hot springs. The town of Marlin, north of Austin on I35 and half way between Austin and Dallas, was a spa town in the 40's with a Hilton Hotel and the baths. It was touted as the "deepest" source of a hot spring on earth. The old hotel is still in use and has a multiuse large room (high school seniors were decorating it for the Senior Prom when I visited a couple of years ago) and small offices. The City Hall maintains a pump with a concrete trough, from which I brought home a jug of very strong sulphur water.

Going east from Dallas toward Arkansas, you can see several hot spring eruptions in cornfields along the highway. South of Austin, along I35 you can see the mound of an inactive volcano, also in a cornfield. These are related to the Balcones Fault.

there is no doubt that Arkansas has a history of volcanic activity.

The Crater of Diamonds is an "extinct" volcano as was mentioned above.

Now for something you may not know...Hot Springs is famous for its naturally scalding water mineral baths. They store hot water in tanks for use in the bathhouses.

the radioactivity level (mostly radon and radon daughters) is incredibly high in these tanks...and this is a well known fact to the national parks service and the Hot Springs city government.

I know this for a fact. Geiger counters peg out.

i read a book years ago called Underexposed and one of the things it talked about was hot springs, mineral bathhouses and their level of radiation

If you go to the diamond mine area, you will notice that it sits down in a "valley."

Excellent video and it makes alot of sense why they drilled as they did in the Gulf near that fault line to cause a rift and split in the land causing total devastation and flooding to take down America.

It makes total sense and seems to be working. Obama has lifted the drill halting or whatever u want to call it and they are allowed to continue.
