Any photography whizzes out there? Need help finding a camera
Hey all,

I've been commissioned by the USGS to track down a certain type of still or video camera, and I'm hoping maybe someone with a better knowledge in photography could help.

Basically the camera needs to be a point and shoot, low power (to run off a 12-volt battery), cost preferably under $200, but is decent enough quality to take pictures of floods at a distance of maybe 100 yards from a monitoring station. It doesn't need to be equipped with a motion sensor, but it does require a jack enabling it to connect to USGS gauging station instruments, which will take photos of floods remotely. It doesn't need to be waterproof either.

Anyone have an idea where to start looking?

What type of jack?
If your budget is 200 $ I would imagine any camera at that price range with a usb port should be sufficient for government work.

Perhaps the USGS should spend tax victims money on someone who actually has a clue?
