The office of president carries no respect. Just ask Wilson's ghost or any other president over the past 140 years.

They test out the common urban legends... by using scientific testing.

That said, Obama is looking to gain popularity by appearing on a hugely popular show.

One last point, I seem to remember Mr. Clinton appearing on Carson? playing his sax, just saying...

Perhaps he is taunting people who say he isn't the president?

Keep in mind the principle of scientific method that MythBusters ought to use (but often doesn't):

It is the responsibility of the claimant to prove his claim.

In order to run for President, Barack Obama had to claim, and did claim, that he was a native-born citizen. It is his responsibility to prove his claim.

Similarly:

1) NASA claims that its employees walked on the Moon (six times!). This is perhaps the most extraordinary claim ever made in science. Such a claim requires equally extraordinary independent evidence.

2) The American government claims that Osama bin Laden engineered the 9/11 attack, and has used that claim to bomb, invade, and occupy Afghanistan for over 9 years. Yet the FBI admits that it has insufficient evidence even to indict Osama bin Laden for 9/11, much less convict him.

I will strongly argue the point that "Mythbusters" has anything to do with science.

It is one of the "science" shows that appeal to his target age group. It's a good choice. Besides, we don't know what he will be saying or doing, or even if this is true.
