When I was younger, by the year 2000 we'd be out of food due to increased population. We'd also:
Be underwater due to all ice melting.
Be almost unable to breathe due to pollution.
Be in an ice age caused by the Global Conveyer belt shutting down.
Be in a Venus-like environment from pollution.
Yadda, yadda, yadda... all by 2000.
