Quake Hits Nicaragua; No Damage Reported

A strong earthquake shook much of Nicaragua late Friday, sending frightened residents spilling into the streets, but no injuries or damage have been reported, officials said.

The 6.7-magnitude temblor occurred at 9:16 p.m. local time and was centered in the Pacific Ocean, about 40 miles west-southwest of the community of Rivas, about 65 miles south of Managua, the capital, according to the U.S. Geological Survey in Colorado.

The Nicaraguan Red Cross joined authorities in the capital and in the region nearest the epicenter and said there were no reports of injuries or damage, though the quake was strong enough to trigger a tsunami advisory in southern California.

Nicaragua´s earthquake center measured the quake at 6.2 and said it occurred about 80 miles south of Managua. There was no immediate explanation for the discrepancies.

The plate boundary is in extreme fluxation
between unclamping and having the strong piezomagnetic bursts. It appears that triggering from the Nicaragua earthquake is greatly affecting the crustal stress level in Southern California. The way it looks right now, it may be coming to a point. Everyone take all necessary precautions this weekend. This current unclamping incident is most similar to those that were detected last
December and January. All coastal regions should now be on advisory in case the next strong earthquake also generates a Tsunami.
I sure wish it wasn´t the Fourth of July weekend to be giving out this kind of advice.
HOwever, the data does indicate that we need to be on guard, no matter what. So, everyone from Central California to Baja, Mexico needs to be aware of what´s currently being detected. We now have some anomalously high levels of deep crustal stress surfacing along the Pacific & North American Plate Boundary in Southern California. The Inland Empire should be at the Warning level in Wrightwood, Lytle Creek, Cucamonga, Fontana, Rialto, Devore, San Bernardino, Redlands, Yucaipa, Banning, Loma Linda, Colton, Riverside, Hemet, Idyllwild, Beaumont, Anza, Borrego Springs, Ocotillo Wells, Desert Hot Springs, Yucca Valley, Indio/Palm Springs to the Salton Sea and anywhere else which is in within 15 miles of any major faults located in Southern California. This is not a drill.
